MOUQAABALA

A serious search, guided by values

A halal marriage, in full confidence

Mouqaabala is a Muslim matrimonial platform. You build a detailed profile, you search, and when a conversation gets going, her wali has his place in it — at the point agreed, not before.

Every field on your profile can stay private. Your main photo can stay blurred until you decide to show it.

The wali joins at the right moment

He enters the conversation when the discovery phase ends, if you both want to continue. Before that he reads nothing. This is not a privacy setting: the server refuses him access.

Your photos stay put

They appear only inside an active conversation, once our team has reviewed them. Your main photo can stay blurred and be shown only to the people you choose to talk to.

People do the moderating

No automatic fake-profile detection, no compatibility score, no sanction decided by a machine. Reports are handled by a team, and every decision carries a reason.

Fifteen messages each

That is the limit of the discovery phase. Enough to know whether you want to go on, and enough to prevent conversations that run for months without committing to anything.

  1. 15 messages per person

The counter is visible on both sides, at all times.

  2. 12 reminder

Three messages from the end, you are told.

  3. 7 days at most

With no conclusion, the exchange closes on its own, without comment.

How it goes

  1. You fill in your profile

Around sixty fields: religious practice, family situation, lifestyle, values, plans. It takes time, and that is deliberate — a vague profile leads nowhere. Any field can be marked private.

  2. You search

Filters on practice, city, age, family situation, life plans. You can save a favourite, signal interest, or send a direct request.

  3. The conversation opens

After acceptance, and after the wali confirms where that is required. Fifteen messages each. Then each of you decides, separately, whether to carry on.

  4. The wali joins

Two yeses and he enters the conversation. From that point contact details may be exchanged — with him present, which is the whole point of the process.

Wali

The wali, matrimonial guardian

He is the trusted person who accompanies a woman through her search for a spouse. Usually a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a brother. Failing that, someone she designates: an imam from her mosque, a close family friend. On Mouqaabala his role is bounded — and the bounds matter as much as the powers.

What he can do

  • Review a profile submitted to him and give a reasoned opinion
  • Suggest a profile to her — never the other way round
  • Join the conversation after the discovery phase, with both people’s consent
  • Open a private thread with her to talk it through

What he cannot do

  • Read the discovery phase, or end it
  • Delete or edit a message
  • Write in her place, or accept a request for her
  • See her other conversations
  • Change her account, delete it, or stop her ending an exchange

What we do with your data

Sensitive data

Religious practice, health, origins: European law protects these more than the rest. Mark a field “Secret” and it disappears for other members while staying visible to you.

Your messages

You can retrieve the ones you wrote, on request. There is no button to download a whole conversation — not for you, not for the wali. The summary he receives is read online, and that is all.

Screenshots

We cannot prevent them on the web, and we are not going to claim otherwise. Sharing them breaches our terms and is sanctioned, but technical prevention does not exist.

Erasure

Thirty days after you ask, your account is gone for good. Messages from a closed conversation are deleted after twelve months, without you having to ask.

Frequently asked questions

Is Mouqaabala free?

Signing up and building a profile, yes, entirely.

Is the wali mandatory?

To exchange messages, yes. Without a confirmed wali a woman can browse profiles, save favourites and receive requests, but messaging stays locked.

Can the wali read my first messages?

No. Throughout the discovery phase he has access to nothing. He enters after your explicit consent and that of the other person, never before.

What if no family member is available?

You designate someone you trust: an imam from your mosque, a close family friend. You can also name a substitute, in case the first one does not answer.

Who sees my photos?

Nobody until you have started an exchange. They appear inside the conversation, once our team has reviewed them. The main one can stay blurred.

Is this a dating site?

No. Mouqaabala is for finding a spouse. No relationship outside a matrimonial framework is allowed, and that rule is enforced, not decorative.

What happens if someone asks for my number?

The message is blocked and does not count against your quota. An explanation appears. If it happens again the sanction escalates, up to account suspension. Once the wali is present, exchanging contact details becomes normal.
