Safety and privacy
A matrimonial service handles information nobody wants circulating: a religious practice, a family situation, a face. This page sets out what is protected, by what means, and — just as importantly — what cannot be.
Your photos
Your main photo can stay blurred. It is revealed only to the people you have chosen to talk to. Other photos appear only inside an active conversation, once the moderation team has reviewed them.
What we cannot do: prevent a screenshot. On the web no technical means forbids it, and a service claiming otherwise leaves you trusting a protection that does not exist. Sharing a photo taken from the platform breaches the terms of use and is sanctioned — that is a rule, not a lock.
Fields marked "Secret"
Religious practice, health and origins belong to the data European law protects more than the rest. You can mark "Secret" every question that has a list of answers, as well as your height and weight: the answer stays visible to you, it disappears for other members, the wali included.
Answering a question therefore does not oblige you to display the answer. A complete profile helps the right people find you; it does not have to be an open file.
Moderation is human
No automated decisions. No compatibility score, no automatic fake-profile detection, no suspension pronounced by a machine. Reports are read by people, and every decision carries a reason you can consult.
That choice costs time, and the cost is accepted: an automatic sanction gets it wrong without anyone noticing, and there is then nobody left to explain to that you did nothing.
Blocking a member is immediate and symmetrical: he no longer sees you, you no longer see him, and no notification tells him he has been blocked.
Your messages
On request, you can obtain a copy of the messages you wrote. There is no button to download a whole conversation — not for you, not for the wali. The summary he receives is read online.
That is not a forgotten feature. A conversation exported into a file contains someone else’s words, and a file travels without anyone being able to call it back.
Messages from a closed conversation are deleted after twelve months, without you having to ask.
Your account, and erasing it
You can close your account at any time. Permanent deletion happens thirty days after the request: the delay exists so that a decision taken on a discouraging evening can be undone, and it is cancellable throughout.
After that, the data is erased. What remains is what the law requires be kept — the trace of a moderation procedure, for instance — and nothing more.
Your rights
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability: the rights opened by European law are exercised from your personal space or by writing to the address given in the privacy policy. An answer follows within one month.
One caveat, stated plainly: an access request cannot hand over what another person wrote. Your messages are yours; the other side’s are theirs.
