The service
Is Mouqaabala free?
Signing up and building a profile, yes, entirely.
Is this a dating site?
No. Mouqaabala is for finding a spouse. No relationship outside a matrimonial framework is allowed, and that rule is enforced, not decorative.
Do I have to live in Europe?
No. The site is served in French, English and Arabic, and profiles carry a country and a city. The terms of use recall that everyone remains bound by the law of the country where they live.
Is there a mobile app?
The service works in the browser, on a phone as on a computer. An app is planned; it will offer exactly the same possibilities, with no reserved feature.
The wali
Is the wali mandatory?
To exchange messages, yes. Without a confirmed wali a woman can browse profiles, save favourites and receive requests, but messaging stays locked.
Can the wali read my first messages?
No. Throughout the discovery phase he has access to no content: the server refuses the request. He enters after your explicit consent and that of the other person, never before.
What if no family member is available?
You appoint someone you trust: an imam from your mosque, a close family friend. You can also name a substitute, in case the first does not answer.
What happens if my wali stops answering?
The substitute takes over after five days of silence. On the tenth day you can appoint someone else. You are notified before any transfer and you can object to it.
Does a man need a wali?
No. The mandate concerns the woman. A man signs up, talks and decides alone.
The conversation
Why only fifteen messages?
Because fifteen is enough to know whether you want to continue, and beyond that a relationship settles in that the framework no longer frames. A counter is visible on both sides, and a reminder warns three messages from the end.
What happens if someone asks for my number?
The message is blocked and does not count against your quota. An explanation appears. If it happens again the sanction escalates, up to account suspension. Once the wali is present, exchanging contact details becomes normal.
How many conversations can I have at once?
Five at most, and ten pending requests at most. Those limits exist so that each exchange gets real attention.
What happens if nobody concludes?
After seven days without a decision the conversation closes on its own, without comment and without blame directed at either person.
Can I contact someone again after a refusal?
Not for a month, and the rule works in both directions. That is what stops persistence being dressed up as a fresh request.
Your data
Who sees my photos?
Nobody until you have started an exchange. They appear inside the conversation, once our team has reviewed them. The main one can stay blurred.
Can my photos be saved by other members?
A screenshot cannot be prevented on the web, and we will not claim otherwise. Sharing them breaches our terms and is sanctioned.
Can I hide some information?
Almost. Every question that has a list of answers can be marked "Secret", as can your height and weight. The answer stays visible to you and disappears for other members, the wali included.
Does the site use cookies?
None, and no analytics either. There is therefore no consent banner to accept.
How do I delete my account?
From your personal space. Deletion becomes permanent thirty days later, and stays cancellable throughout that period.
